Chan Russell
President, Lincoln Safety Group
Chan Russell founded Lincoln Technologies in 1999 which was acquired by Phase Forward in August 2005. He has more than 20 years of experience developing computer systems for biomedical applications, and has led the development of major pharmaceutical industry applications related to clinical data management, laboratory data analysis, adverse event tracking and reporting, and safety signal detection. As president of Phase Forward's Lincoln Safety Group, Russell oversees safety product development and professional services, and manages strategic partnerships with key pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies.
In 1990, Russell co-founded Belmont Research, Inc., an independent software company that focused on clinical data management technology and services for pharmaceutical research and development. From 1997 to 1999 he continued to manage Belmont's operations as Vice President of PPD Informatics.
Earlier, Russell held several senior technical management positions at BBN, including Vice President of Engineering where he was responsible for a major collaboration with Oracle Corporation to port the Oracle™ relational database system to high-performance computer architectures. Russell also supervised the planning, development and support of a series of software packages for use in biomedical data management and data analysis, including BBN/Clintrial™ and the RS/Series, which were adopted widely in the pharmaceutical industry.
Russell was selected by Research and Development magazine as the developer of one of the best 100 new technical products in 1982 ("R&D 100" Award).
Russell holds a B.A. degree from Harvard College and attended Harvard University Graduate School in Computer Science.
